Mark recently sat down for a probing interview about the inner workings of Mark One Communications
How does Mark One Communications tailor its services to meet the "unique needs of organizations?
Detailed interviews are held with agency personnel to understand the mission and services of the organization and the purpose and goals of the requested training or consultation. We respond with care and concern to your needs and wants. In most cases, on-site training seminars are open to an unlimited number of staff members, allowing for greater convenience and cost-effectiveness to you. In addition, for agencies in the field of disabilities, our extensive experience and sensitivity to issues associated with developmental disabilities provides a training experience that is meaningful and applicable to the day-to-day work that people do.
Does Mark One Communications work exclusively with agencies in the field of disabilities?
While the primary recipients of our services thus far have been agencies that work with people with disabilities and faith based organizations, other non-profit and for-profit agencies can certainly benefit by the seminars and products offered through Mark One Communications. In fact, we see our services as an added advantage to these agencies in that we are able to provide a different perspective on many workplace issues that are critical to all organizations.
I hear you bear a strong resemblance to Brad Pitt. Have you ever considered a career in the movies?
As a matter of fact, I did work in the movies when I was younger, but I found it too difficult to rip those tickets in half, so I quit. As far as Brad is considered, I am told I bear more of a resemblance to Peach Pitt.
Why is the issue of staff recruitment and retention so critical right now?
The human services system is in a state of great change. Organizations are facing increased competition and periods of tremendous growth as they cope with the reality of doing more with a workforce that is rapidly shrinking. Staff turnover rates continue to soar, causing instability, higher costs and disruption of quality in services provided. Now, more than ever, human service agencies can benefit through a greater emphasis on training and consultation.
Arnold the interviewer listens to another profound answer provided by Mark Bernstein
What are your fees?
The fee structure is dependent on the nature of the training or consultation, amount of travel involved, materials required, and so on. We are confident that organizations will find the costs to be significantly less than other "generic" training and consultation services.
Can I use your restroom?
Sure. It's down the hall to the right. Turn the light off when you leave.
How would you describe the method of presentation in your training seminars?
Very interactive and experiential. Participants engage in individual activities, small group work and large group discussion. Humor is also an essential ingredient. People not only are challenged and, hopefully, inspired but they have fun as well.
Where are your offices located?
Our home base is Delaware County, Pennsylvania, outside Philadelphia. We love to travel, however, and always wanted to see Paris in the spring.
